Vin Murria, chief executive of software and analytics specialist Advanced Computer Software (LON:ASW), has been named entrepreneur of the year at the AIM awards.
The company boss picked up the accolade, which showcases how companies use the AIM market to fulfil their strategy, at the London ceremony last Thursday.
She fended off three others on a shortlist, including Bill Dobie at online dating service Cupid (LON: CUP) to win the voters choice, and be "an entrepreneur who has demonstrated the vision, flair, drive and business acumen to take his or her business forward, via an AIM listing, at a pace impossible without access to stock exchange funding".
Another winner was onshore energy producer Igas Energy (LON:IGAS) which picked up the plaudit for best AIM transaction of the year.
This chose a company that was said to have been "transformed" by a single transaction during the period under review - August 1 last year to July 31 this year.
In December last year, the company confirmed it had closed a deal to acquire Star Energy from Petronas International - taking its production profile beyond 2,500 barrels of oil equivalent.
Igas shares were up today 0.98 per cent, at 77 pence each.
Other winners were ASOS (LON:ASC) for best communication and West African Minerals (LON:WAFM) for best performing share.
Best use of the AIM market went to EKF Diagnostics Holdings, while best technology award went to Bango.
In the best research category, the winner was broker finnCap.
Sierra Rutile was named international company of the year, while best newcomer was Escher Group Holdings.
AIM company of the year was EMIS Group.
